Police Restructuring
The following flow char describes how a police service is disbanded, reduced or amalgamated
- the Application for hearing is received by the commission
- the acknowledgment and protocols are sent within 5 working days.
- a draft proposal is received and reviewed by the commission staff
- Final proposals is tabled at the commission meeting, at which point the panel members are selected
- The hearing date is set and a public notice is published in local newspapers
- Hearing is held
- a decision is rendered normally within 30 days of the hearing
- Disbandment takes place if approved
